Design Development
Our last project before starting our Final Major was Design Development, we had to choose a concept, something that would stand out at Graduate Fashion Week. My initial idea was basing it on the natural phenomenon Denmark's Black Sun, my tutors loved it and is therefore still my concept! Its inspired by thousands of birds coming together in the sky to create eerie, voluminous shapes. For this project we had to do all the flat work as usual and create on outfit (can be seen in the fashion film in a previous post!)
F.A.D
At the beginning of our third year we did a project for the organization F.A.D. The concept was 'Escape', my initial thought was to escape to somewhere real, my favourite place in the world is Alaska, I was lucky enough to go there when I was 16. However I didn't want my project to be that one dimensional so I took this image from the trip which my dad took, it was just so perfect and symmetrical. And there it was, my concept-symmetry, perfection. This project was all flat work so here are some images from my sketchbook and of course the image from Alaska.
Our last one day project! I decided to design some accessories for my final collection. I then made a pair of earrings from perspex, I bought a great little set from the Design Museum, it's like a flat pack bird so I took the pattern from it, copied it into illustrator, then laser cut it in some perspex. Here are some images courtesy of photography/stylist Kyna Scarisbrick.
It's been decided that for my final collection I will use the pieces from the bird but it a more abstract way, more pictures to come!
